Print In Place
For this assignment, I was curious if I could add foreign objects into to the print bed while printing to create an object that looks like it was supposed to be there, creates a totally different function or just creates a curious fun form.

I began by just seeing if I could print through any object. The closest thing I could think of was to print through my bottle cap for my water bottle.
I created the ring that would wrap around the bottle cap ring and for shits and giggles thought, why not add a loop to hold the water bottle.

I lifter the loop so that the bottle cap would sit flat on the bed when printing.
Here is the finished piece before and after taking off support material. I found that it was pretty cool but jon thought I needed to focus more on the actual intervention more than the use of the object so as to make the intervention the most obvious aspect of the part.

Therefore, I strayed into the abstract and just tried something that simply showed off the 'adding an object' factor, and also was a little funny haha.
It worked well but I wasn't really satisfied, I wanted to try something more difficutl that could possibly have some use but simultaneously is simple to show off the structure.

I printed this way up until I could fit the wooden dowel in and cover the top. I was very happy with this experiment and I would like to continue this in the future.
I then tried making a structure using laser cut parts to hold the fine structure together.

Although I thought the concept was promising, I didn't refine the technicalities enough for the print to finish.
Finally, I decided to add some movement to the objects that I would printo over. I decided that magnets could be an interesting way to show more possibilities of the process of printing over foreign objects. This is the object that got the most intrigue from viewers.
